JUNE 2023 MEET OUR NEWEST MEMBERS

This June, we welcome the following organizations to GAR’s membership:

  • Woori Juntos (Houston, TX) means "We Rise together" and is to ensure Asians, immigrants, and all Texans have in-language access to health and social services and are civically engaged to achieve equity and justice for all. Woori Juntos approaches the community holistically by engaging their most vulnerable community members through critical social services, educational programming, community organizing, public policy advocacy and civic engagement.

  • Filipino Advocates for Justice's (Bay Area, CA) mission is to build a strong and empowered Filipino community by organizing constituents, developing leaders, providing services, and advocating for policies that promote social and economic justice and equity.

  • The California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative is a statewide grassroots organization that addresses health, environmental, reproductive justice, and other issues faced by low-income, female, Vietnamese immigrants and refugees. Using a multi-tiered approach that blends community organizing, grassroots policy advocacy, and community-based research, the Collaborative builds power of the nail salon community to develop solutions that benefit the nail salon workforce, their families, small immigrant and refugee owned businesses, and their communities.

  • HANA Center is a Chicago-area nonprofit organization that works to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities. HANA Center builds power towards systemic change through organizing the community, providing critical services, and providing political education.

With our expanding members, we are building a pan-Asian, working-class organizing ecosystem across the United States together. We’re excited for Woori Juntos, FAJ, CA HNSC, and HANA Center to join all our membership at our upcoming National Convening next month!
